Simi Valley High Officials Uncertain Who Will Coach in Bradshaw’s Absence

Share

With basketball Coach Dean Bradshaw’s status unclear for Friday night’s game against Camarillo because of an altercation with a player, Simi Valley High officials are uncertain who will coach the team when it returns to play for the first time in two weeks.

Bradshaw is suspended while the Simi Valley Unified School District conducts its investigation of the incident, in which Bradshaw shoved senior guard Sam Rodriguez during a 51-44 league victory over Westlake on Jan. 14. The game marked the last time Simi Valley has played because of problems related to the Jan. 17 earthquake and Bradshaw’s situation.

“It’s doubtful the situation will be resolved by Friday,” Athletic Director George Ragsdale said. “We’re not sure who will coach the team. Chances are I might coach.”

Pioneer junior varsity Coach Steve Johnson and sophomore team Coach Christian Aurand are also candidates.

Simi Valley is scheduled to play host to the Marmonte League game at 7:30 at the Apollo Continuation School in Simi Valley.
