GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Brea-Olinda Wins 12th Consecutive Orange League Title

Brea-Olinda beat Savanna, 110-16, Thursday at Brea to win its 12th consecutive Orange League girls’ basketball title, which ties a Southern Section record.

It was the 46th consecutive victory for Brea-Olinda (25-0, 10-0 in league), the top-ranked team in Orange County. The Ladycats have won 71 consecutive league games.

In other Orange League games:

Valencia 62, Anaheim 40--LaQuinta Alexander had 22 points and 18 rebounds for Valencia (12-9, 6-4), which clinched third place.

Western 47, Magnolia 45--Isabel Rojas scored 15 points and grabbed 20 rebounds for Western. Adrienne Ratajczak added 14 for Western (11-14, 5-5).

In the Academy League:

St. Margaret’s 55, Cal Lutheran 36--Susan Heydenrych scored 12 points, including 10 of 10 on free throws for St. Margaret’s (16-1, 8-0), which clinched the league title.

In the Garden Grove League:

Rancho Alamitos 37, Santiago 24--Akilah Rodgers had 16 points, 18 rebounds and five blocks to lead Rancho Alamitos (19-6, 13-1) to a share of its fourth consecutive league crown. La Quinta is also 13-1 in league.

La Quinta 67, Kennedy 47--Linda Rodriguez scored 24 points and had 14 rebounds in La Quinta’s victory. Damia Williams scored 12 points and got 16 rebounds for Kennedy (15-10, 9-5).

Pacific 44, Los Amigos 40 (OT)--Pilar Surch (19 points) scored five points, all on free throws, as host Pacifica (9-14, 5-9) outscored Los Amigos, 7-3, in overtime.

Garden Grove 49, Bolsa Grande 47--Michol Murray had 25 points and 14 rebounds to lead Garden Grove (11-12, 9-5).

In the Freeway League:

Troy 67, Sunny Hills 32--Jennie Gadd had 22 points for Troy (18-5, 10-0).

Fullerton 54, Buena Park 34--Ashley Jones had 17 for visiting Fullerton (14-9, 7-3).

La Habra 53, Sonora 23--Sydney Rogers scored 16 and Lara Fuentes scored 10 points to lead La Habra (13-9, 7-3).

In the Olympic League:

Capistrano Valley Christian 43, Ontario Christian 36--Lisa Bradberry scored 12 points for Capistrano Valley Christian (11-11, 5-7).

In the Pacific Coast League:

Century 34, Laguna Hills 30 (OT)--Laura Zepeda made four of the six free throws in overtime for Century (12-11, 3-7).

In the Sea View League:

Woodbridge 84, Saddleback 27--Erin Stovall scored a game high 19 for second-ranked Woodbridge (25-0, 14-0).

Corona del Mar 58, Irvine 46--Rosalie Kane had 20 points and 18 rebounds for Corona del Mar (11-13, 5-9).

Tustin 67, Santa Margarita 33--Sarah Davis scored 17 for Tustin (17-9, 9-5).

Newport Harbor 50, University 39--Dianne Pulido scored 18 points and had 12 rebounds for second-place Newport Harbor (13-9, 7-7).

In the South Coast League:

San Clemente 66, Dana Hills 47--Jenny Geminert had 19 points and 11 rebounds for host San Clemente (18-5, 8-2). The Tritons outscored Dana Hills, 16-8, in the second quarter to take a 30-15 lead at the half.

Mission Viejo 61, El Toro 33--Treva Whitaker scored 20 and Kortney Okura 16 for Mission Viejo (8-13, 2-8. El Tor is 4-17, 0-10.

In the Sunset League:

Ocean View 58, Westminster 39--Farrah Magee scored 16 and Dustine Yamamoto added 12 as sixth-ranked Ocean View (21-4, 12-2), playing at home, earned a share of the league title with Marina.

Marina 50, Huntington Beach 49--Senior guard Martita Emde hit a 15-foot jump shot with no time remaining to give Marina (19-6, 12-2) the victory. Shandy Robbins scored 18 points and had 12 rebounds for Marina, which has won shared the league title the past four years.

Santa Ana 50, Fountain Valley 42--Sophomore Tanzenika Holmes scored 17 points, helping Santa Ana upset eighth-ranked Fountain Valley (16-9, 8-6). The victory is Santa Ana’s first against the Barons in four years. Santa Ana (11-15, 3-11) has petitioned for a place in the playoffs.

Edison 60, Rosary 52--Marie Philman had 14 points and 13 rebounds, Becky Loshak had 13 points and Lisa Araki and Danielle Wiggins each added 11 points to lead Edison (17-8, 8-6).
