Alexis Larsen
SCHOOL: Harvard-Westlake
SPORT: Swimming
YEAR: Senior
SEASON AT A GLANCE: One of the top distance freestylers in the country, Larsen is the main reason the Wolverines are Mission League title favorites. Larsen, who will attend USC, won section titles in the 200 individual medley and 500 freestyle last year as the Wolverines finished second in Division III.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Larsen, competing for Golden West Swim Club, finished second in the 800-meter freestyle in the U.S. National Championships in Federal Way, Wash. Only two-time Olympic champion Janet Evans (8 minutes 32.44 seconds) swam faster than Larsen (8:38.09). Additionally, Larsen was third (16:36.28) in the 1,500-meter freestyle, also won by Evans. “I don’t think I’ll ever beat her, but to be right next to her was enough.” Larsen said.
