PREP SOFTBALL ROUNDUP
In the Century League:
El Modena 2, Canyon 0--Canyon (12-8, 4-4) lost its third consecutive game, creating a three-way tie for third place. The Vanguards (9-12, 4-4) scored on a passed ball and Mandy Villa’s RBI double.
Foothill 5, Santa Ana Valley 0--Robin Tessman (6-1) pitched a one-hitter, striking out five and Michelle Churnock went three for three with four stolen bases for 10th-ranked Foothill (19-6, 7-1).
Villa Park 2, Orange 1--Junior Brandee McArthur struck out 11 consecutive batters to start the game for Villa Park (15-9, 6-2). She finished with 14 strikeouts.
In the Freeway League:
Fullerton 11, Sonora 0--Angie Fancuberta’s perfect game kept Fullerton (12-13, 6-2) a game ahead of Sunny Hills with two to play.
In the Garden Grove League:
Kennedy 1, Rancho Alamitos 0 (11)--Three passed balls by Rancho Alamitos in the 11th inning allowed Summer Perkins to score for Kennedy. Lisa Pitt struck out 10 and gave up three hits for the Fighting Irish (18-5-1, 12-1-1).
