Highlights

Brethren Christian reached the Southern Section Division X title game before getting stomped by top-seeded North Hills L.A. Baptist, 43-21. Olympic League back of the year Keith Washington rushed for more than 1,300 yards, leading a running attack that gained more than 3,100 for the season. For the second consecutive year, league champion Brethren Christian couldn’t beat Calvary Chapel. Robert Hudson rushed for 188 yards and three touchdowns in the Eagles’ 30-13 victory. Calvary Chapel, which lost the regular-season finale to co-champion Ontario Christian, 28-10, lost in the first round of the playoffs to Panorama City St. Genevieve, 24-21. Orange Lutheran upset Calvary Chapel, 13-6, in the second league game, but lost two of its next three games and missed the playoffs. Whittier Christian tied L.A. Salesian, 6-6, in the opener and then was outscored, 265-89, in its next nine games.

Highlights

Led by defensive player of the year Paul Cancino, Southern California Christian qualified for the playoffs for the sixth consecutive year, but didn’t stay around long, losing to Templeton, 49-14, in the first round.
