FAST FACT

Fillmore’s junior varsity has won two consecutive league titles.

OUTLOOK

Nowhere to go but up. But Wilber, formerly the school’s junior varsity coach, likes what he sees. Defensively, the Flashes should be solid. Ocegueda, Perez and Lomeli, all returnees, are the best group of linebackers the team has had in years, Wilber said. Offensively, the picture is not so rosy. “But we anticipate being tough,” Wilber said.

A senior-laden team, Oak Park has a good shot of winning the league. Seniors start at 21 positions, and team speed is the best Billingsley has had at the school. In fact, almost everything about this year’s bunch makes Billingsley crow. “This is the most intense team I’ve seen since I’ve been coaching here,” Billingsley said.

OUTLOOK

St. Bonaventure will have to fight for a playoff berth. Proven skill-position players are in short supply. Sanchez, who has won the starting quarterback job, has been impressive and should leave his mark on the league over the next two years. Strength lies on both sides of the line of scrimmage.
