OUTLOOK

Workman, who has led the Pirates to bowl games in three of the last four seasons, said this is the most inexperienced team he has had in nine seasons. Still, he has some talented players returning. Clayton gained 1,442 yards in 11 games and averaged seven yards a carry. McCullough, a linebacker, was in on 102 tackles. Gonzales, from Newport Harbor High, has been the most impressive among a group of talented but mostly first-year defensive backs. Khamis has been the most impressive quarterback so far.
