Reseda Shows Who’s Bully on the Block, 28-7 : High school football: Regents claim bragging rights over neighborhood rival Cleveland.

Senior Matt Rutter passed for two touchdowns and ran for a third to lead Reseda High to a 28-7 nonleague victory over neighborhood rival Cleveland Friday night at Cleveland.

Rutter completed eight of nine passes for 85 yards, including touchdown passes of eight and 13 yards to senior Alonso Arreola. Arreola caught three passes for 31 yards.

Senior Michael Oxx rushed for 73 yards in 15 carries and scored on a seven-yard run in the second quarter, giving the Regents (1-1) a 13-7 lead at halftime.

Oxx also intercepted a pass by Johnny Lopez to stop the Cavaliers’ first drive. Lopez completed nine of 13 passes for 125 yards.

Reseda maintained its six-point lead until early in the fourth quarter when the Regents drove 61 yards in 13 plays. Rutter culminated the drive with a one-yard sneak.

Cleveland running back Russell Burwell rushed for 69 yards in eight carries and scored the Cavaliers’ only touchdown, a 22-yard run in the second quarter to tie the score, 7-7.

The Regents forced Cleveland (1-1) into four turnovers, three on fumbles.
