There were two keys to Fullerton’s 14-13 victory over California High School in nonleague action Friday night at California High School.

The Indian defense, which held the Condors to 160 total yards, and Christopher Young, who ran for 167 yards and two touchdowns to pace Fullerton.

If that weren’t enough, California (0-2) also missed an extra point and two field goals.

Young opened the game with an 85-yard touchdown run on Fullerton’s first play from scrimmage.

The Condors were able to drive down the field on their next possession thanks to two 15-yard penalties and four consecutive completions by quarterback David Baruch, who found Josh Walker from 13 yards out to tie the score, 7-7.

California had a chance to increase its lead late in the quarter but Hector Ramos missed a 30-yard field goal.

Two second-quarter fumbles proved costly for the Indians. The first came on California’s 13-yard line and ended a scoring threat.
