Newport Harbor Stays Atop Volleyball Poll

Newport Harbor, winner of the Orange County Volleyball Championships Saturday, received all of the first-place votes to retain its No. 1 ranking in the State Coaches’ girls’ poll. The Sailors were the top team in the preseason poll.

The Sailors defeated Laguna Beach, ranked third in the state, 15-17, 17-15, 15-4, in the finals Saturday at Edison High. Newport Harbor reached the championship match by sweeping Sunny Hills, Huntington Beach and Esperanza.
