League coaches pick the Griffins as the favorite although they suffered two big losses. Forward Ryan Staniec, now at UC Santa Barbara, and Tim Lin, now at Claremont, combined to average 35 points last season. “And Tim made 105 three-pointers last season,” Brooks said. “Those are some big shoes to fill.” If he can find people to put the ball in the basket, Brooks has one of the county’s best point guards to distribute the ball. Ton averaged 10 assists in the regular season. Vandervoet also started last season and averaged nine points and seven rebounds. “He is so much improved,” Brooks said. Johnson led the team in scoring during the summer and he will also pick up some of the scoring slack. Brooks is also excited about Glass, the JV’s MVP last season. “By the end of the season, he’ll be one of the better sophomores in Orange County,” Brooks said. Corbin, a top-notch defensive player, Komer and Lamoureux will also contribute.
