COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Concordia Stays Unbeaten With 27-Point Victory

Craig Martin scored 25 points and had six assists, and Sam Sabbara added 17 points as the Concordia men’s basketball team improved to 4-0 with a 101-74 nonconference victory over Christian Heritage Saturday night.

The Eagles shot 61% from the field and made 10 of 20 three-point attempts.

In other nonconference men’s games:

Southern California College 83, Dominican 77--John Naro scored 23 points and made six of seven three-point shots to lead SCC.

Chris Kostoff, a Capistrano Valley High graduate, scored 17 points and has 46 in his last two games.

SCC (3-3) trailed, 49-48, at halftime but went on a 21-8 run to start the second half.

Cal Lutheran 102, Pacific Christian 75--Charles Ross scored 30 points on 12-of-23 shooting for visiting PCC (6-5).

In a UC Irvine Marriott Classic women’s basketball consolation game:

UC Irvine 76, Colorado State 65--The Anteaters (1-3) got their first victory as Allah-mi Basheer and Jinelle Williams had 18 points.

At the GSAC preseason tournament:

Northwest Nazarene 81, Concordia 66--Kari Smith scored 20 points and Mary Kessel handed out 15 assists to spark Northwest Nazarene to the title. Kessel was named outstanding player.

Fresno Pacific 79, Southern California College 65--Heather Brannan scored 21 for SCC (1-5).

In the UC Irvine Speedo Cup swimming:

UCLA women, Stanford men win--Cindy Bertelink won the 1,650-yard freestyle by nine seconds in 16:44.53 and Annette Salmeen won the 200-yard butterfly to lead UCLA.
