PREP ROUNDUP : Santa Margarita Girls Blank Mater Dei in Soccer

Kristen Rowe, Maresa Zanetti and Eric DeVitis scored first-half goals to lead No. 3 Santa Margarita to a 3-0 victory over No. 2 Mater Dei in a nonleague girls’ soccer game Tuesday at Santa Margarita.

Riki-Ann Serrins had one save for Santa Margarita (1-0-1). Amanda Fox had six saves for Mater Dei (1-1).

In other nonleague girls’ soccer:

El Modena 2, Corona 0--Erin Warren and Jessica Dahlberg each scored for visiting El Modena (1-1).

Esperanza 3, Kennedy 0--Kim Gallo, Jami Bumstead and Shaila Parikh each scored for Esperanza (2-0-1).

Ocean View 1, Edison 0--The Seahawks’ Kimberly Engesser scored with 12 minutes left. Jessica Funke and Karen Dawes each had two saves for Ocean View (3-1).

Rosary 0, El Dorado 0--Rosary’s Anna Villanpando recorded four saves and Catherine Rodriguez had five saves for host El Dorado. Rosary is 2-0-1.

El Toro 2, Estancia 1--Kelly Sawdon and Mandi Lashmett had first-half goals for visiting El Toro (1-0-1).

Los Alamitos 2, Long Beach Wilson 1--Liz Willemse and Sommer Hammoud each scored in the second half to lead Los Alamitos (4-0). Hammoud’s goal came in the 76th minute, breaking a 1-1 tie.

Capistrano Valley 3, Orange 0--Jo-Ellen Bosco, Kelly Skeen and Erin Conners each scored for host Capistrano Valley (1-1).

In nonleague boys’ soccer:

Los Alamitos 4, Long Beach Wilson 1--Jeff Leitner had a first-half goal and an assist in the second half for visiting Los Alamitos (3-0-1).

Huntington Beach 2, Westminster 2--Westminster took a 2-1 lead at halftime on goals by David Kurien and Mike Casey. Robert Ramirez tied the score for the Oilers (2-2-1) with a goal five minutes into the second half. Brian Bailey scored the Oilers’ first-half goal.

In nonleague wrestling:

Fullerton 53, Whittier La Serna 21--Freshman Abraham Negrete pinned Darrealc Ingram in 39 seconds to help lead Fullerton (3-0). Teammate Cesar Gutierrez pinned his opponent in 1:19.
