Palmdale 64, Jasper Place 38--Rena Bonde scored 14 points and Kristi Rose added 13 points and 12 rebounds for Palmdale (3-0) in a semifinal in the Jasper Place tournament in Edmonton, Canada.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Loyola 73, Buena 55--The Bulldogs led, 43-41, late in the third quarter before Loyola (6-0) went on a 16-2 run in the semifinals of the Beverly Hills tournament. Guard John Tobias led Buena (4-2) with 15 points. Center Ceneka Shaw added 12 points and four blocked shots.
Poly 63, San Fernando 60--Jaime Cerna had 22 points and 10 rebounds for Poly (2-1) at San Fernando. Polo Gonzalez added 20 for Poly. Marty Trinidad had 19 points for San Fernando.
Granada Hills 85, Sylmar 73--William Ruffin had a triple-double and Ernest Quigley scored 24 points to lead the Highlanders (2-3) at Sylmar. Ruffin, a senior point guard, had 12 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists.
Highland 80, Pacific 64--Guard Carl Biel had 24 points and eight assists for Highland (6-1). Forwards John Burrell and Jamal Dedeaux added 17 and 15 points.
Moorpark 66, Brethren Christian 55--Mike McKenzie had 27 points and eight rebounds as Moorpark (6-2) advanced to the Faith Baptist tournament final.
Chaminade 55, Montclair Prep 44--Torey Ellis scored 22 points and Carmine Rossi added 18 points and 12 rebounds as Chaminade (4-0) won the other Faith Baptist tournament semifinal.
Reed Berglund scored 21 points for Montclair Prep (6-1).
MEN’S BASKETBALL
Moorpark 90, Kings River 69--Forward Paul Foster scored 21 points and had eight rebounds for Moorpark (7-4) in a Cuesta tournament consolation semifinal. Jaime Jaquez added 13 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds.
Canyons 90, West LA 73--Center Marrcel Crain hit 12 of 13 field-goal attempts and had 28 points and 15 rebounds for Canyons (3-5) in the other Cuesta tournament consolation semifinal.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Valley 68, Chaffey 62--Reserve Erika Kusek scored 17 points and had five assists and two steals for Valley (7-2) in a Valley tournament semifinal.
Ventura 75, Cypress 44--Marina Reyes had 19 points for Ventura (8-1) in the other Valley tournament semifinal.
