GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Fraser’s 26 Help Ocean View Rally Past San Diego Morse

Becky Fraser scored 26 points and had 13 rebounds as Ocean View beat San Diego Morse, 54-48, in the first round of the Marina girls’ basketball tournament.

Ocean View (6-5) rallied in the fourth quarter making 10 of 12 free throws, and outscoring Morse, 21-12.

Jennifer Tuiolosega had 17 points and six assists for Ocean View, which plays Marina at 8 tonight.

Marina 100, La Quinta 31--Shandy Robbins had 21 points and Gaby Reyes had a career-high 18 points for Marina (9-1).

Fountain Valley 63, Mission Viejo 37--Nicole Strange scored 17 points and Jen Ludwicki scored 16 for Fountain Valley in the first round.

Newport Harbor 62, Marina JV 25--Mandy Clayton scored 14 points and Dianne Pulido 12 to lead fourth-ranked Newport Harbor (8-0).

In the Costa Mesa Winter Classic:

Woodbridge 54, Montebello Schurr 35--Krissy Duperron scored 16 points and Erin Stovall 11 to lead top-ranked Woodbridge (11-0), which plays Huntington Beach at 6:20 tonight in one semifinal.

Santa Margarita 67, North Torrance 43--Shannon Redfern scored 14 points to lead Santa Margarita (4-2) in a consolation game.

Westminster 40, Aliso Niguel 34--Amber Farroux scored 24 points to lead Westminster (7-5) in a consolation game. Deana Mitchelson had 19 points for Aliso Niguel (5-6).

San Clemente 47, Arroyo Grande 41--Kirsten Quade scored 12 points for San Clemente (7-6) in consolation play.

In the Santiago Cavalier Classic:

Edison 62, El Modena 39--Marie Philman scored 28 points to lead ninth-ranked Edison (8-2), which led 32-16 at the half. Jennie Foyle had 14 points to lead El Modena (3-6).

Corona del Mar 57, Canyon 53--Jennifer Gardner had 20 points and 17 rebounds for the Sea Kings (4-7). Teammate Lindsay Warmington added 15 points. Dawn Brown scored a game-high 25 points for Canyon (5-4).

Fullerton 45, Pacifica 37--Fullerton outscored Pacifica, 17-10, in the fourth quarter to take control. Nadia Hoerner had 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Indians (5-5).

Santiago 50, Sonora 41--Ericka Adakai and Angie Ching-Sam each scored 16 points to lead Santiago (4-6).

In the Garden Grove tournament:

El Toro 51, Magnolia 44--Jill Holmes scored a game-high 19 points for El Toro (4-7).

Kennedy 57, Paramount 29--Erryn Gutjahr scored 12 points and Marcia Eguchi had 10 points and seven steals to lead Kennedy (6-5), which led, 25-10, at the half.

Garden Grove 67, Sunny Hills 39--Janine Shaw scored 17 points and Sara Monsoor, April Boose and Gina Huizar each scored 10 to lead Garden Grove.

Villa Park 45, Rancho Alamitos 37--Mary Jo Pennington had 17 points and 20 rebounds to lead Villa Park (7-3), which outscored Rancho Alamitos, 28-23, in the second half.

In the Savanna tournament:

La Habra 51, British Columbia Argyle 27--Amy Lien scored a game-high 16 points for the Highlanders (5-3).

Santa Ana Valley 47, Bev Sacey (Canada) 45--Velina Gibson made a layup at the buzzer to give Santa Ana Valley (3-7) the victory. Gibson led all scorers with 16 points.

Santa Ana 42, Bell Gardens 37--Junior Tanzenika Holmes scored a game-high 24 points to help the Saints (7-5).

Los Amigos 45, Savanna 32--Amy Klingelsmith scored 12 points and Shannon Pendergrast added 10 for Savanna (3-6).

In the Laguna Beach tournament:

Trabuco Hills 62, Orange Lutheran 59--Dyanna Hatch had 17 points and LaShieka Henderson had 14 points and 15 rebounds for Trabuco Hills (10-3), which plays Laguna Hills at 6 p.m. today in one semifinal. Liz Pappas had 18 points for Orange Lutheran (6-4).

In the Phelan Serano tournament:

Whittier Christian 57, Littlerock 39--Alana Kempton scored 18 points for Whittier Christian (9-2). Kim Menke had 14 points and seven assists and Kristi Ralston had six points and nine rebounds.

In a nonleague game:

Rosary 54, Troy 31--Kathleen Celio had 12 points and 13 rebounds for visiting Rosary (7-2). Jennie Gadd scored 12 points for Troy (7-5).
