The Alemany High girls’ basketball team turned in a performance Thursday that Coach Melissa Hearlihy called, “the best game we’ve played in a long time,” to advance to the finals of the Surf ‘N Slam tournament in La Jolla.

“We haven’t played that well since the fourth playoff game last year,” said Hearlihy of her team’s 72-45 victory over New Jersey Red Bank.

Paced by Kathy Reith’s eight points, the Indians (9-1) used a 21-4 run in the second quarter to extend their lead, 39-21.

In other girls’ games:

Buena 58, St. Patrick’s (Canada) 36--Nicole Greathouse had 10 points and 16 rebounds as Buena (3-2) advanced to the consolation final of the La Jolla tournament.

El Camino Real 56, Grant 47--Junior guard Tami Jones scored 25 points, had 10 assists and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Conquistadores (4-6) to fifth-place in the Birmingham tournament. It was her second career triple-double.

BOYS’

Crescenta Valley 78, Schurr 53--Brock Jacobsen scored 31 points and Blake Jacobson added 16 to lead Crescenta Valley to the championship game of the Anaheim Canyon tournament.

Montclair Prep 86, Mission Prep 73--Reed Berglund scored 39 points and Scott Stark added 28 and six assists to lead the Mounties (12-3) to the championship of the La Salle tournament.
