PREP NOTES : Stipp Named Coach at Santa Ana Valley

Kevin Stipp has been named the boys’ basketball coach at Santa Ana Valley. He was the team’s interim coach after Rich Prospero resigned in January. Stipp also coached the girls’ team, but will coach only the boys next season.

Five players from Southern Section Division III co-champion Woodbridge will lead the South team in the Orange County Senior All-Star boys’ soccer game at 7 p.m. Saturday at Chapman University.

Gustav Gratzer, Mike Jacobs, Mike Bartholemew, Kevin Reid and David Moats will represent Woodbridge on the team, which will be coached by Woodbridge Coach Jon Szczuka and Fountain Valley Coach Kevin Smith.

Anaheim’s Juan Lopez, the Orange League’s most valuable player, and Orange’s Lalo Rodriguez, a first-team Times all-county selection, are among the top players on the North, coached by Sunny Hills’ Mike Schade.
