The Sister Act played to near-perfection Thursday for Crescenta Valley High.

Senior Danielle Robertshaw pitched a three-hitter and sophomore Hope Robertshaw slugged an inside-the-park home run to give the Falcons a 1-0 Pacific League softball victory over Hoover at Montrose Community Park.

It was the 10th consecutive victory for Crescenta Valley (11-1, 2-0) and sixth shutout for Robertshaw (7-0), who struck out one and did not walk a batter.

Hoover (7-8, 0-2) and Tina Kinney (7-6) dropped their second consecutive 1-0 decision.

“That was a Robertshaw Production,” Crescenta Valley Coach Alan Eberhart said. “It’s nice that they can play that way.”

With two out in the first inning, Hope Robertshaw gave Kinney’s first pitch the ol’ schoolgirl crush, sending a line drive up the left-center field alley that rolled all the way to the fence. She easily beat the relay throw to the plate.

The siblings are savoring this season since Danielle missed much of last year due to a knee injury.

“I really didn’t get to play with her last year,” Danielle said. “It’s nice. I depend on her a lot.”

When Hoover’s Karla Nanne hit a popup in front of the plate in the fourth, Danielle pointed to the sky and barked “Hope!” As instructed, her sister caught the ball.

“Hope is as good a fielding third baseman as she is a hitter,” Eberhart said.
