PREP FOOTBALL / ORANGE COUNTY ALL-STAR GAME : Six Times All-County Players Make the Roster

Six members of The Times’ all-county football first team have been selected to play for the South in the 36th Orange County All-Star game, July 14 at Orange Coast College.

San Clemente’s Brett Samperi, a two-time All-South Coast League selection, will play at USC this fall. He will be joined on the South’s offensive line by Irvine’s Jeff Hagstrom and Foothill’s Tony Tuioti.

On defense, the South will be led by first-team defensive backs Bryan Lachapelle of Edison and Los Amigos’ Ape Tuato. Newport Harbor’s Bill Johns will anchor the defensive line.

The South will be coached by Jim Barnett, who recently resigned as coach at Trabuco Hills.

Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. game are available on a pre-sale basis for $6 at county high schools or $7 at the gate. Proceeds will benefit charities, high schools and youth groups.
