Crescenta Valley High parlayed a pair of big innings into its biggest victory of the season, 11-7 over Arcadia in a Pacific League baseball game Friday night at Stengel Field.

The Falcons (13-3, 7-2 in league play), trailing, 5-1, in the bottom of the third, pulled to within 5-3, then scored four runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to stun the Apaches.

The victory moved second-place Crescenta Valley to within a game of Arcadia (15-3, 8-1) in the league standings and snapped the Apaches’ 12-game winning streak.

“These guys have been our targets all along,” said Jesse Daggett, Crescenta Valley’s junior catcher. “We were down, but we took a head check and saw where we were at. We could not lose this game. Not on our home field.”

Daggett led a 12-hit attack with a pair of doubles, one of which drove in a run in the fifth inning. He finished three for four and drove in another run with a single in the fourth.

“Everybody was slapping the ball around,” Daggett said. “I’d have to say this is the most meaningful win yet.”

The Falcons enjoyed a lengthy postgame meeting during which plaudits were distributed and the victory was savored.

“I like what our kids did,” Crescenta Valley Coach Tony Zarrillo said.

“They showed courage. We were playing one of the better teams in the (Southern Section), a team that came in here 15-2 with a 12-game winning streak.”

Arcadia scored four runs off starter Billy Huddleston in the third inning to break a 1-1 tie. George Mendia delivered a run-scoring double and Timothy Cushing had a run-scoring single for the Apaches in the inning.

The Falcons scored twice in the bottom of the third before chasing Arcadia starter Jason Cly in the fourth.

Kasey Canale was two for five, including a double, and Brian Peterson was three for four, including a run-scoring double. He also scored three runs.
