Southern Section Rule Hurts Some Athletes

I guess Horatio Alger never played high school tennis.
I came to this conclusion after reading that the Southern Section Council voted to disallow tennis, badminton and golf coaches from playing with or instructing individual players outside the season’s sport.
Some kids will continue to get year-round private lessons from their club pro, while others will receive no one-on-one instruction six months out of the year. For the past four years I have donated my time to all the kids who want to improve but can’t afford the club route.
Sadly, this is no longer an option, and competing with other schools’ “club players” will become more difficult. Please, CIF, say it ain’t so.
