El Camino Real, Jones Roll, 9-0

Tami Jones threw her first complete-game no-hitter of the year as El Camino Real beat Sylmar, 9-0, in a City Section 4-A Division quarterfinal at El Camino Real.

Jones (14-1), who struck out eight and walked three, had combined with Gretchen Vandenberg on two other no-hitters this season.

Cherise Espinosa (9-6) took the loss for eighth-seeded Sylmar (11-11).

Top-seeded El Camino Real (19-1) scored four runs on four hits in the third inning.

Ahead, 5-0, in the fourth, the Conquistadores (19-1) iced the game on Ramona Shelburne’s grand slam. Shelburne finished with two hits and five runs batted in.

Kristin Gutekunst had two hits and two RBIs.

The Conquistadores play Granada Hills in the semifinals Tuesday.

In other 4-A playoff games:

San Pedro 4, Kennedy 3--Sandra Durazo hit a home run and struck out 10 but the Golden Cougars (15-5) lost to the Pirates (20-5) at San Pedro.

Dana McCall added a home run for Kennedy.

Granada Hills 10, Banning 6--Jessica Creith (14-5) struck out seven, walked one and allowed three earned runs as the fourth-seeded Highlanders (13-5) scored six runs in the second inning and defeated the fifth-seeded Pilots at Granada Hills.

SOUTHERN SECTION

Thousand Oaks 2, Camarillo 1--Jessie Davenport stole home in the top of the sixth inning, giving the visiting Lancers (15-8-1, 10-4) the eventual winning run in a Marmonte League game.

Sophomore Brooke Rutschman pitched a no-hitter for Camarillo (21-5-1, 12-2), striking out six. Rutschman walked two and Camarillo made three errors. Jennifer Sharron pitched a three-hitter for the Lancers, striking out 12.

Thousand Oaks finished in a three-way tie for second place with Westlake and Newbury Park. The Lancers are the Marmonte League’s No. 4 entry, though, having the worst head-to-head record among the three teams.

Simi Valley 4, Westlake 3--Michelle Schoen had two hits and scored two runs for the Pioneers (13-14, 7-7) in a Marmonte League victory over the Warriors (21-6, 10-4) at Simi Valley.

La Reina 12, Bishop Diego 0--Jennifer Baltruzak struck out 12, threw her second no-hitter and hit a pair of triples as the Regents (20-5, 10-0) trounced the Cardinals (7-9, 2-8) in a Tri-Valley League game at Bishop Diego.

Village Christian 11, Marshall 0--Jackie Aranda struck out 14 for visiting Village Christian (17-6, 8-3) in an Alpha League no-hitter that was called after five innings.

Hoover 11, Pasadena 0--Tina Kinney pitched her fourth no hitter and her sixth shutout in seven games for visiting Hoover (16-12, 7-3) in a Pacific League romp.

Ventura 10, Oxnard 2--Heather Clark, Clarrisa Pinado and Alisha Eckberg each had two hits and two RBIs as 10 players collected singles in a 14-hit attack by the Cougars (6-12, 6-8) at Oxnard.

Canyon 4, Burroughs 1--Sunshine Esparza had three hits and drove in a run for visiting Canyon (14-11, 7-4) in a Foothill League game at Olive Park.

Oak Park 10, Carpenteria 0--Kaylene Boldroff (11-6) and Tabatha Tata combined on a two-hitter as the Eagles won a five-inning Tri-Valley League game at Oak Park.

La Canada 1, Pasadena Poly 0--Jacki Tenerelli scored on a two-out squeeze bunt by Tricia Walton in the sixth inning of a nonleague game at La Canada. Lindsay Parker struck out 13 for La Canada (20-2).
