SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Fourteen errors wiped out a strong performance by Crenshaw High pitcher Erminda Young, who tossed a five-hitter, recorded seven strikeouts and yielded only one walk but suffered a 10-0 loss to Royal in the L.A. Watts Games softball semifinals at Cal State Dominguez Hills last Saturday.

Crenshaw, which gained a forfeit win over Peninsula in the first round, reached the semifinals after a come-from-behind, 6-5 win over Long Beach Jordan in the quarterfinals.

“I think the girls were so pumped up after our win over Long Beach Jordan, they were drained,” Crenshaw Coach Frank Price said. “But we’ll get better. We’ll have a really good team next season.”
