AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL : Camarillo Pounds Arcadia in Tournament Final, 11-2

CAMARILLO — Home runs by Charlie Boch and Mike Muller propelled Camarillo to the championship of the Gene Waid tournament with an 11-2 victory over Arcadia on Tuesday at Camarillo High.
Camarillo (21-4) also received strong hitting performances from Joe Borchard, who tripled, singled and drove in three runs. Scott Volan and Rodell Desamparo each singled twice and stole two bases.
Aaron Hanel (7-1), who pitched at Ventura College in the spring, allowed six hits and walked none in a complete-game performance for Camarillo. Hanel struck out three.
Ventura defeated Glendale, 7-2, in the third-place game. Monty Moritz hit a three-run double in the fourth to give Ventura (12-4) a 3-2 lead. Danny Harrison added a two-run double in the sixth and Jeremy Pierce doubled to score Harrison.
Simi Valley defeated Pomona for fifth place and Thousand Oaks defeated the Camarillo Connie Mack team for seventh place.
