Wyki Tyson, a 6-foot-8 forward who has played the past two basketball seasons at Eastern Kentucky, will transfer to Cal State Fullerton, Coach Bob Hawking said Wednesday.

Tyson will redshirt this coming season and then have two years of eligibility, Hawking said.

Tyson was slowed by an injury last season and played only 117 minutes. He played in high school in Troy, Mich., and was an all-county selection as a senior when he averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Hawking said assistant coach George Fuller scouted Tyson in high school and regarded him as a good prospect.

“The coach who recruited him at Eastern Kentucky left, and so he decided to move on as well,” Hawking said. “He’s a good student and we think he will continue to develop as a player.”
