Plouffe’s Timely Heroics Keep Northridge in Hunt

The pitching and batting of Marshall Plouffe kept Northridge Little League alive Tuesday in the Major Divisional tournament at Mission Viejo.

Northridge defeated Hacienda Heights, 11-0, in a loser’s bracket game. Plouffe pitched five innings, retiring 13 of 15 batters by strikeouts, and hit a home run.

Northridge will face Diamond Bar today at 5:30 p.m.

Matt Riordan of Westlake High will play for the United States in a Goodwill Series in South Korea.

Because of restrictions regarding amateur athletics, each player is required to raise $1,600 for travel, lodging and equipment expenses. Tax-deductible donations can be made, in Riordan’s name, to the Goodwill Series corporation.

Peter Tuber was four for five with three doubles and four runs batted in to lead Northridge to a 14-6 victory over Crescenta Valley in a loser’s bracket game of the Little League Junior Divisional tournament at Pasadena.

Nathaniel Dunlap, who pitched a complete game, had four hits.

Basketball

Meadowlark Lemon will conclude his three-day camp at St. Bonaventure High today. The camp, which began Monday, runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is no age restriction on players.
