La Verne Hires Chapman Basketball Assistant Boesel as Head Coach

Terry Boesel, assistant coach of the Chapman men’s basketball team, has been hired as men’s basketball coach at La Verne.

Boesel spent three seasons at Coach Mike Bokosky’s top assistant coach. He also taught physical education classes and last year coached the wide receivers on the Panther football team.

“It was a tough decision,” Boesel said. “I’ve enjoyed every minute of my time here at Chapman,” Boesel said. “I really hated to leave.”

Bokosky is interviewing candidates to fill the position.

Chapman has hired Marc Stamer to coach its water polo team. Stamer coached the last two seasons at Etiwanda High School, where his teams compiled a 34-28 record.

Stamer played at Fontana High and Chaffey College. He replaces Rod Hormell, who resigned this summer.

Patrick Guillen, Southern California College sports information director, has been hired in a similar position at Cal State Dominguez Hills on an interim basis.

Guillen held his position at SCC for two years.
