PREP FOOTBALL ’95 / NORTHWESTERN LEAGUE : CITY SECTION

Share

Verdugo Hills will be hard-pressed to make the playoffs following the transfer of several potential starters to other schools--including three to San Fernando. First-year coaches Don Scott Jr. and Sal Mojica have 23 players on the roster, meaning two-way football will be a way of life for the Dons.

Linemen William Claros (6 feet 1, 245 pounds) and Joe Delaney (5-11, 240) are starters returning from last season’s team, along with defensive back/wide receiver Alex Trevino (5-10, 170). Village Christian transfer Cory Reisner (5-10, 170) is the starting quarterback.

Improved programs at Hollywood and Wilson might keep the Dons in a battle for last place with Lincoln.

The preseason schedule is not favorable toward the Dons. After a winnable opening game against Grant, they will be heavy underdogs on the road against St. Francis and Brea Olinda.
