ORANGE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL PREP EXTRA : Perley Leads Aliso Niguel Past Dana Hills

Share

Trent Perley was having a bad week--at least before Friday night.

Perley, Aliso Niguel’s junior running back, ran for 180 yards and two touchdowns as the Wolverines defeated Dana Hills, 26-6, at Dana Hills High.

It was an unlikely performance, considering Perley had fumbling problems in practice and was twice admitted to the hospital for dehydration this week.

Perley admitted he surprised even himself.

“I had no idea I would get so many carries,” said Perley, who ran on 22 plays. “I didn’t expect to do this at all.”

The Wolverines (1-0) scored first following a Dana Hills fumble, when Perley drove Aliso Niguel 17 yards on his first three carries to set up Mike Campbell’s 21-yard field goal.

The Dolphins (0-1) came right back on Julio Peraza’s 89-yard kickoff return and led, 6-3, early in the first quarter.

Aliso Niguel continued its ground attack at the start of the second quarter. Perley and DeAngelo Gossett carried the Wolverines 75 yards from their seven-yard line and Perley capped the drive with his first touchdown from three yards out.
