1994: 23-6 overall, 5-0 in the South Coast League; lost to Long Beach Wilson, 8-6, in the Division I semifinals.

Outlook: San Clemente’s postseason record is hard to beat--the Tritons have advanced to the Division I semifinals the past four seasons and eight of the last 10. This time, however, they will have to do it without goalkeeper Gabe Gardner, The Times Orange County player of the year who is at USC. Yancey doesn’t sound too worried. He says this is one of his more defensively oriented teams. It also has plenty of offensive firepower, led by Hewko, the scoring leader as a freshman, and Bailey, a first-team all-division selection.
