Bryant Wolfsberger rushed for 207 yards and two touchdowns in 15 carries as Capistrano Valley Christian defeated Acton Vasquez, 21-8, at Saddleback College Friday night.

Capistrano Valley Christian came out running in the second half to pile up 206 of its 309 total yards. Wolfsberger had 122 yards in the second half, and teammate Wayland Williams had 80 yards in six carries, including 62 yards in the second half.

The Eagles (1-1, 1-0) started the scoring in the first quarter when Wolfsberger ran six yards to cap an eight play, 76-yard drive. Tim Baker’s run gave Capistrano Valley Christian an 8-0 lead.

But Vasquez, playing its first varsity game in the school’s three-year history, came right back with a 15-play, 80-yard drive that Ryan Farrar finished with a 10-yard run. Farrar also ran in the two-point conversion to tie the score, 8-8.

The Eagles took the lead with 9:02 left in the third quarter when Wolfsberger scored his second touchdown on a one-yard run. Robbie Bray’s conversion kick gave the Eagles a 15-8 lead.

Capistrano Valley clinched the victory with 9:08 left in the game when Williams scored on a 29-yard quarterback draw to make it 21-8.

Vasquez tried to rally behind Sean Malony, who rushed for 148 yards, and Farrar, who totaled 84 yards. However, the Mustangs were stopped on downs at Capistrano Valley Christian’s six-yard line with less than a minute left in the game.
