SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

El Toro quarterback Steve Krupp had a hot hand Friday night, completing 12 of 14 passes for 187 yards and four touchdowns as the Chargers routed Mission Viejo, 57-12, at Mission Viejo High.

The Diablos could not find anything to disrupt Krupp’s precision passing in the first half as the senior quarterback connected with five receivers.

“I have to give the credit to my offensive line,” Krupp said. “They gave me all the time in the world. And the receivers ran great routes and found open spots.”

El Toro Coach Mike Milner said Krupp continues to impress him, especially since Krupp has played only three varsity games.

“I can’t say enough good things about him,” Milner said. “We’ve probably asked him to do more things than any other quarterback we’ve had before and he keeps coming through.”

The Chargers (2-1) scored on five of their first six possessions and led at halftime, 37-0. Krupp completed seven consecutive passes at one stretch, four of them for touchdowns.

Murle Sango ran for 65 yards and one touchdown in four carries and also caught four passes for 50 yards and another touchdown.

Wide receiver Michael Smith, a transfer from Mission Viejo, caught three passes for 64 yards and a touchdown.

Mission Viejo (0-3) broke the Charger’s shutout bid in the third quarter when Wes Regan led the Diablos on a nine-play, 65-yard touchdown drive.
