Seconds after Dana Hills posted its first victory in three seasons, Coach Trace Deneke gathered his players and shouted, “Don’t forget the feeling, it’s pretty good, huh? Now, let’s see how selfish we can get.”

Dana Hills’ 41-0 victory over Bolsa Grande Friday night at Dana Hills High finally put an end to the school’s 19-game losing streak.

“It’s been a long time coming,” Deneke said. “But you’ve got to feel good about the seniors and the student body. This one’s for them.”

John Morgan led Dana Hills’ offensive outburst with 365 total yards, completing six of nine passes for 113 yards and one touchdown. Morgan stepped in at quarterback for an injured Aaron Kaufman on the third play from scrimmage.

Kaufman started the game and completed an 11-yard to Morgan. He then connected with B.J. Buck on a 47-yard pass play to the Bolsa Grande one, but was thrown on his shoulder after delivering the pass and left the game.

Julio Peraza’s one-yard plunge gave Dana Hills a 7-0 lead three minutes into the game. Peraza rushed for 116 yards in nine carries and scored three touchdowns while running back Troy Ifuku added another two scores.

The Dana Hills’ defense held Bolsa Grande to 106 total yards, recovered three fumbles and blocked two punts.
