HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER ROUNDUP : Barry’s Goals Do the Trick for Harvard, 5-1

Jon Barry scored three goals and assisted on two others as Harvard-Westlake defeated Crescenta Valley, 5-1, Friday in pool play of the Burroughs boys’ soccer tournament.

Dan Sable and Ari Friedman also scored for the Wolverines (5-0-1), who advance to play Kennedy in the semifinals today at noon at Muir Junior High in Burbank.

In the other semifinal, Saugus and Royal play at noon at Burroughs High in Burbank.

In other Burroughs tournament pool play matches:

Saugus 11, Bell-Jeff 0--Nate Wright scored three goals and Steve Honnen and David Wilson each scored twice as the Centurions (5-0-1) trounced the Guards (1-3-0).

Newbury Park 3, Alhambra 0--Alan Milin scored two goals in the second half as the Panthers (1-1-2) defeated the Moors (0-3-0).

Kennedy 3, El Camino Real 2--Andrew Newns scored twice in the first half and Jose Manuel Aguilar scored the winning goal with 12 minutes to play as the Golden Cougars (5-1-1 overall, 2-1-1) defeated the Conquistadores in a Northwest Valley Conference match at El Camino Real.

Gerardo Herrera and Jorge Trujillo scored for El Camino Real.

In other Northwest Valley Conference matches:

Chatsworth 9, Granada Hills 1--The Chancellors outshot the Highlanders, 17-6, and Fernando Cazares and Michael Preis each scored three goals at Chatsworth.

Mike Grofsky scored twice and Abdulah Safdari once for Chatsworth (2-2, 2-2), which led, 6-0, at halftime.

Vasiliy Chubay scored for Granada Hills (1-3, 1-3).

Birmingham 1, Cleveland 0--Gerardo Wence scored five minutes into the second half for the Braves (4-0, 4-0) at Birmingham.

Littlerock 5, Valencia 0--Chris Infante scored three goals for the Lobos (3-1) in a nonleague match at Littlerock.

Hoover 4, Temple City 0--Shara Shahouni had three goals for the Tornadoes (4-0) in a nonleague match at Temple City.

GIRLS

Harvard-Westlake 2, Agoura 1--Jessica Post and Susan Baise scored for the Wolverines (5-1), and Christine Larralde scored for the Chargers (3-1).

North Hollywood 4, Reseda 1--Kathleen Sullivan scored twice, and Brenda Castaneda and Dara Zeehandelaar scored once for the Huskies (4-0, 2-0) in a City Section League C match at Reseda.

In other League C matches:

Monroe 10, Sherman Oaks CES 0--Katherine Northcutt scored three goals for the Vikings at Monroe (3-1).

Cleveland 13, Canoga Park 0--Bree Blumstein and Julie Munjack each scored three goals as the Cavaliers (1-2, 1-1) routed the Hunters (0-2, 0-2) at Cleveland.
