Moorpark Shakes Off Nordhoff, 49-45

Moorpark High got a scare but remained undefeated in a 49-45 victory over Nordhoff Friday night in a Frontier League girls’ basketball game at Moorpark.

The Musketeers (14-0, 3-0 in league play), ranked 10th in The Times’ regional poll, led, 39-29, entering the fourth quarter, but were outscored, 16-10, in the final eight minutes.

Guard Tracey Milburn had 14 points and six rebounds for the Musketeers despite sitting out most of the fourth quarter with four fouls.

Erin Barker had 17 points and 10 rebounds for Nordhoff (11-6, 2-1).

Crescenta Valley 59, Glendale 42--Michelle Greco had points, 14 rebounds and eight assists for Crescenta Valley (18-1, 3-0) in a Mission League game at Glendale. Amirah Leonard added 15 points.

L.A. Baptist 49, Maranatha 34--Sarah Markey scored 18 points and Deanna Bergeson added 15 points and 15 rebounds for the Knights (4-9, 2-1) in an Alpha League at L.A. Baptist.

Angie McHodgkins and Courtney LaBau each scored 11 points for the Minutemen (3-14, 0-2).

Montclair Prep 82, Santa Clarita 11--Laura Power had 26 points and 15 rebounds, and Stephanie Aron added 16 points and 10 assists for the Mounties (7-6, 4-0) in a Westside League game at Santa Clarita.

Calabasas 52, Santa Paula 34--Heather Robertson had 16 points while Jamie Apody added 15 for the Coyotes (8-5, 2-1) in a Frontier League game at Santa Paula.

Tanya Paez scored 20 for the Cardinals (4-12, 1-1).

North Hollywood 57, Reseda 27--Samantha Fargeon had 17 points and 12 rebounds for the Huskies in a Valley Pac-8 conference game at North Hollywood.

The Huskies used a 12-0 run spanning the third and fourth quarters to break open a 30-22 game.

Chatsworth 56, El Camino Real 42--Nancy Vincent had 18 points and 18 rebounds, and Tynitra Wilson added 14 points and 21 rebounds for the Chancellors (10-5, 2-0) in a Northwest Valley Conference victory at Chatsworth.

Tammy Jones and Lydia Mellado each scored 11 points for the Conquistadores (5-3, 1-1).

Poly 49, Sylmar 41--Monie Simmons scored 19 of her 21 points in the second half as the Parrots (7-7, 1-1) won a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at Poly.

Kylie Roberson scored 21 points for the Spartans.

Grant 51, Monroe 33--Senior guard Bahaneh Maani had 23 points, eight rebounds, three assists, five steals and made five three-pointers for the Lancers (7-4, 2-0) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at Grant.

Nakeisha Perkins added 16 points and 14 rebounds.

Taft 65, San Fernando 19--Vanessa Dunn had 17 points and Monia Calhoun added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Toreadors (11-0, 2-0) in a Northwest Valley Conference game at San Fernando. Tynisha Howze added 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Granada Hills 35, Cleveland 25--Linda Gayton had seven points and 11 rebounds for the Highlanders (2-2, 0-2) in a Northwest Valley Conference game at Granada Hills. Ebonee Bates added five points and 15 rebounds.

Kennedy 44, Birmingham 34--Coyles Scarbrough had 14 points and Tamaya Morris added 12 for the Golden Cougars (7-8, 1-1) in a Northwest Valley Conference game at Birmingham.

Van Nuys 88, Canoga Park 24--The Hunters scored the first three points but the Wolves went on a 24-1 run to end the first quarter and did not look back.

Gohar Tumanian scored 28 points for the Wolves.

Canoga Park’s Joy Salamanca scored all 15 of her points on five three-point baskets.
