When one of your team’s leading scorers fouls out of a close game, it usually means trouble.

Unless you played for Hoover High on Tuesday.

Starting forward Andy Russell, who had 12 points and 10 rebounds, fouled out with 1 minute 22 seconds remaining, but his replacement, Fernando Ramirez, made two layups in the final minute of the game to give the Tornadoes a 57-55 Pacific League boys’ basketball victory over Muir at Hoover High.

The Tornadoes (12-8, 5-1 in league play) took sole possession of first place.
