Simi Valley Lights Up Like Century City

Tawnee Cooper scored 25 of her 36 points in the first half as the Simi Valley High girls’ basketball team set a school single-game scoring record in a 106-52 Marmonte League victory over Camarillo on Thursday night at Simi Valley.

Cooper also had 17 rebounds in the rout, which began with the Pioneers (22-2, 11-1 in league play) outscoring the Scorpions, 28-7, in the first quarter.

Camarillo was also on the receiving end of the Pioneers’ previous highest-scoring game, in 1991 when Simi Valley scored 101 points.

Angela Mosesso had 14 points for the Pioneers, Jamie Griffin added 13 points and Christina Mosesso contributed 12 points and 11 assists.

Melissa Bonds scored 16 points for Camarillo (2-17, 0-12).

Thousand Oaks 70, Agoura 37--Jenn Detmer scored 19 points for the Lancers (20-5, 11-1) in a Marmonte League game at Thousand Oaks. Nicole Woodruff added 14 points.

Newbury Park vs. Westlake, postponed--The Marmonte League game, stopped because of a leaky roof at Westlake, has been rescheduled for Monday at 7 p.m. at Westlake.

Buena 77, San Marcos 39--Nicole Greathouse scored 19 points and had 16 rebounds for the Bulldogs (21-0, 12-0) in a Channel League game at Buena. Eboni Conley added 12 points and seven assists.

Oxnard 54, Hueneme 35--Anicia Rimm came off the bench for 17 points and five steals for the Yellowjackets (14-7, 8-3) in a Channel League game at Oxnard.

Alemany 90, Chaminade 35--Carly Funicello scored a career-high 32 points and had 13 rebounds as Alemany (16-6, 8-0) registered a season-high scoring total in a Mission League game at L.A. Baptist High.

Louisville 66, Harvard-Westlake 51--Kari Crawley, who made eight consecutive free throws in the final two minutes, scored 23 points and had seven steals for the Royals (14-6, 6-2) in a Mission League game at Harvard-Westlake (13-8, 2-6).

Fillmore 73, St. Bonaventure 42--Christie Rosenblad scored 23 points and had 12 steals as the host Flashes (19-3, 8-0) clinched the Tri-Valley League title. Julie Arundell added 19 points and 13 rebounds for Fillmore.

La Reina 38, Oak Park 26--Kindrea Cuccia had 12 points and nine rebounds for La Reina (10-9, 5-3) in a Tri-Valley League game.

BOYS

Viewpoint 56, L.A. Lutheran 52--Greg Weiss scored 19 points for Viewpoint in a Heritage League game.

WOMEN

Portland 102, Pepperdine 69--Lisa Siders had 16 points and four rebounds, and Dana Sulenski added 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists for the Waves (9-11, 2-5) in a West Coast Conference game at Portland.
