Crescenta Valley Gives Goffredo Win No. 300

Michael Greco, Jake Willis and Nathan Sinning teamed to help get Crescenta Valley High Coach John Goffredo his 300th victory, a 75-65 Pacific League come-from-behind effort Friday night over Glendale at Crescenta Valley.

Greco finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds and Sinning added 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Willis contributed 18 points and 13 assists for the Falcons (17-6, 5-3).

Crescenta Valley trailed, 33-29, at the half, so Goffredo made a defensive switch, putting Willis on Glendale center Steve Avetyan--who scored 13 of his 28 points in the first half.

Avetyan was held to one point in the third quarter when the Falcons took control of the game.

Royal 75, Channel Islands 68--Marques Pena scored 28 points, including 12 in the fourth quarter, for Royal in a Marmonte League game at Royal.

Pena hit eight of eight free throws during the fourth quarter and was 11 of 13 for the game. Teammate Ryan Nielsen added 20 points for the Highlanders (16-5, 8-3), who have won three of their last four.

Bernabe Simon had 20 points for Channel Islands (14-7, 6-6).

Camarillo 61, Simi Valley 60--Joe Borchard scored with 14 seconds left for the Scorpions (13-8, 5-7) in a Marmonte League game at Camarillo. Borchard had 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Nathan Kaup scored 14.

Pero Vasiljevic scored 21 points for the Pioneers (14-8, 6-6).

Canyon 87, Burroughs 73--Ruben Castaneda scored a career-high 36 points and also had eight rebounds for the Cowboys (14-9, 5-3) in a Foothill League game at Canyon.

Harvard-Westlake 59, Loyola 47--Jason Collins scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, brother Jarron had eight points and 10 rebounds and Alex Gelbard had 12 points as the Wolverines (20-2, 10-0) beat the Cubs (11-12, 5-4) in a Mission League game at Loyola.

Alemany 65, Crespi 53--Adrian Pantoja scored 17 points for the Indians (13-11, 6-4) in a Mission League game at Crespi.

Dan Quarterman scored 19 for Crespi (5-16, 0-9).

Buena 87, Hueneme 62--Glen Dudley scored 18 and Mike Golden added 16 for the Bulldogs (15-7, 10-2) in a Channel League game at Hueneme.

Jerome Phillips scored 21 points for the Vikings.

L.A. Baptist 71, Marshall 60--Jermaine Sweet scored 26 points as the host Knights (17-5, 7-1) took sole possession of first place in the Alpha League.

Santa Clara 76, Malibu 33--Bryan Doyle scored 17 points and Adam Lopez added 16 as the Saints (18-4, 8-0) routed the Sharks (0-18, 0-8) in a Frontier League game at Santa Clara.

La Canada 45, Temple City 43--Danny Bush scored 20 points and hit a 15-foot jump shot with 18 seconds left to break a 43-43 tie and give La Canada its 49th consecutive Rio Hondo League victory. The victory gives the Spartans (20-4, 8-0) a share of their ninth consecutive league title.

Bell-Jeff 66, Murphy 60--Ruben Douglas had 21 points and 11 rebounds and Marcos Flores added 14 points and 13 rebounds as Bell-Jeff (17-5, 9-1) went overtime for its eighth consecutive victory in a Santa Fe League game at home.

Granada Hills 73, El Camino Real 67--Ernest Quinley had 22 points, and Paul Chan added 12 points and 11 assists for Granada Hills in a Northwest Valley Conference game at Granada Hills.

Chatsworth 73, Kennedy 62--Jerome Joseph had 27 points and eight assists for the Chancellors (9-9, 6-2) in a Northwest Valley Conference game at Kennedy. Eddie Miller added 23 points and 13 rebounds. Clayton Powdrill had 18 points for Kennedy.

Birmingham 39, San Fernando 31--Ellis Richardson scored 14 points and had 10 rebounds, and Fahim Hassanhail added 13 points for the Braves (10-10, 4-4) in a Northwest Valley Conference game at San Fernando.

Marty Trinidad scored 13 for the Tigers.

Cleveland 68, Taft 58--Junior Brignac scored 21 and had nine rebounds, and Donald Holt added 17 points and 11 rebounds for the host Cavaliers (13-8, 7-1) in a Northwest Valley Conference game.

Reseda 48, North Hollywood 45--Mandeep Hayre scored 16 points for the visiting Regents in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game.

Shannon Johnson had 21 points and 15 rebounds for the Huskies (7-15, 4-4).

Poly 79, Sylmar 66--Eric Owens scored 35 points for the Parrots (5-17, 1-7) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at Poly. Daron Wilson scored 16 for Sylmar.

Monroe 75, Grant 65--Terrance Cain scored 24 points for the host Vikings (12-5, 2-2) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game. Corey Saxton added 22 points.

Donald Patterson scored 26 points for Grant.
