Buena Routs Canyon, 91-40

Nicole Greathouse scored 25 points and Stephanie Kinnear had 20 points, 11 rebounds and six assists as the Buena High girls’ basketball team overwhelmed Canyon, 91-40, Thursday night in a Southern Section Division I-A first-round playoff game at Buena.

The Bulldogs (24-1), top-ranked in The Times’ regional poll, led, 50-24, at the half. Christie Erickson added 15 points for Buena.

Tanya McLaughlin scored nine points for the Cowboys (11-16).

Oxnard 54, Keppel 51--Shauntee Johnson’s free throw with 7.6 seconds to play lifted the Yellowjackets (18-7) past the Aztecs (18-8) in a Division I-A first-round game at Oxnard.

Thousand Oaks 83, Nogales 41--Center Jenn Detmer scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Lancers (23-5) led from start to finish in a Division I-A first-round game at Thousand Oaks.

Crescenta Valley 88, Ontario 34--Jackie Rhetta scored 27 points, and Michelle Greco had 24 points and 12 rebounds as the Falcons (26-1) trounced the Jaguars (10-13) in a Division I-A first-round game at Crescenta Valley.

Alemany 59, Paso Robles 32--Carly Funicello scored 23 points and Kelly Kobayashi added 12 for the host Indians (19-7) in a Division II-A first-round game at St. Francis High.

Westlake 41, Troy 39--Megan Carmola scored 28 points and Stacey Hindy added nine as Westlake (13-13) upended Troy (18-7) in a Division II-A first-round game at Troy.

Louisville 59, Big Bear 49--Adriane Bilek scored 16 points, and Becky Witt added 14 and 10 rebounds for the visiting Royals (16-7) in a Division IV-AA wild-card game.

La Reina 34, Whitney 32--Kim Cushna rebounded a missed shot and scored with a minute to play for the Regents in a Division IV-AA wild-card game at La Reina.

Cushna’s game-winning shot was her only basket of the game. Teammate Catherine Fontecha scored seven of her 11 points in the fourth quarter, and Kendrea Cuccia had 11 rebounds for La Reina (12-10).
