Jordan Escapes Upset on Jenkins’ Basket

Ortege Jenkins made a layup with four seconds to play and Joe Hughes added a free throw a second later for top-seeded Long Beach Jordan, which overcame unseeded but determined Alta Loma for a 72-70 victory in a Division I-AA playoff game Tuesday night at Alta Loma.

Esperanza 74, Hoover 62--Matt Munson scored 21 points to lead second-seeded Esperanza (25-3) to a victory at Glendale Hoover in Division I-AA.
Compton Dominguez 94, Ocean View 60--Jason Thomas scored 28 points to lead top-seeded Dominguez (27-2) to a victory in Division II-A.
Inglewood 96, Valencia 58--Jason Hart scored 29 points to lead four Sentinels (26-6) in double figures in a Division II-A game at Inglewood.
Tustin 75, Buena Park 52--Robert Griffin scored 31 and David Lalazarian added 27 for the Tillers, who won in Division II-AA.
San Dimas 68, Corona del Mar 50--Corey Smith scored 21 points for San Dimas (26-1), which won a Division III-A quarterfinal at Estancia High.
Harvard-Westlake 88, Cathedral City 55--Twins Jarron and Jason Collins had 19 points and 15 rebounds each for top-seeded Harvard-Westlake in a III-A quarterfinal at College of the Desert.
Redondo 73, Pomona 70--Doug Francis made two free throws to preserve a victory for Redondo (22-6) in a Division III-AA quarterfinal game at Mira Costa.
