Rich Manning, Los Alamitos High girls’ soccer coach, was named coach of the girls’ South team for the annual Southern California High School Soccer All-Star Games. The games will take place March 3 and March 6 at Azusa Pacific University.

Joining Manning’s staff is El Modena Coach Jeff Pearson.

The games match the top boys and girls seniors in a four-team tournament, representing the North, South, East and West schools from the Southern Section. The South squads, made of county players, will be named later this week.

The boys matches will be played March 3 and March 5.

Competition will take place among boys and girls teams and in surf, longboard and bodyboard categories. Teams are placed in one of two divisions: 4-A for beach-area schools and 3-A for inland schools. Huntington Beach will be on hand to defend its boys’ 4-A championship, and Dana Hills will defend its girls’ 4-A title.

The CISF was organized in 1982 and is not sanctioned by the California Interscholastic Federation.
