Osborne Helps Fullerton Advance at Tournament

Kristy Osborne had two hits and drove in three runs as Fullerton beat Moorpark, 6-0, in a quarterfinal game in the Lady Hornet softball tournament Sunday at Fullerton College.

Osborne had a two-run single in the first inning as Fullerton opened a 2-0 lead.

She also singled in a run and Lynette Velasquez singled in two as the Hornets (24-7) scored four times in the third to take a 6-0 lead.

Kristy Bonwell (10-3) pitched a four-hitter and struck out 10 for Fullerton.

The Hornets had beaten Chaffey, 2-0, earlier Sunday in a pool-play game.

Fullerton plays Palomar, the top-ranked team in the state, at 11 a.m. today in one semifinal. Palomar had beaten Chaffey, 10-0, in another quarterfinal game. The Comets beat Long Beach, 1-0, also Sunday in pool play.

Mt. San Antonio also advanced to the semifinals with a 2-1 victory over Long Beach. The Mounties take on Solano at 9:30 a.m. in the other semifinal. Solano had a bye in the quarterfinal round.

The championship game is at 1:30 p.m.
