Arreola Times Slam Perfectly

Better late than never for Alonzo Arreola and Woodland Hills East.

Arreola hit a pinch grand slam in the sixth inning Tuesday to lift Woodland Hills East to a 7-5 victory over North Hollywood East in a District 20 game at Franklin Field in Reseda.

Arreola, who usually starts at third base, was benched for arriving late. Arreola’s only plate appearance erased a 3-2 lead by North Hollywood East.

Tri-Cities 5, Antelope Valley South 3--Josh Freeman and Daniel O’Haver combined on a three-hitter for Tri-Cities in a District 20 game at Antelope Valley High.

Freeman (2-3) allowed one hit and struck out five in 3 1/3 innings. O’Haver struck out five in 3 2/3 innings to earn his third save.

Eric Torrez had a single and a triple and drove in four runs for Tri-Cities (6-7). Jon Anello and P.J. Tovar had doubles for Tri-Cities.

Sunland-Tujunga 11, Granada Hills East 4--Right-hander Jason Robitaille (3-1) scattered six hits and struck out five in 5 1/3 innings, and Marc Lindop had three hits to pace a 13-hit attack for Sunland-Tujunga (6-4) in a District 20 game at Sunland-Tujunga Senior Field.

Lindop had two doubles and drove in a run. Mike Wertz and Jeff Martin each had two hits. Wertz drove in three runs and Martin drove in two.

Valley North 10, Van Nuys South 2--Joe Tillmon had a two-run home run in the fourth inning for Valley North (11-2) in a District 20 game at Chatsworth High.

Frank Dipoma had two doubles for Valley North.

Las Virgenes East 6, Verdugo Hills 4--Darin Reisman’s run-scoring single highlighted a three-run sixth inning for Las Virgenes in a District 20 game at Calabasas High.

Reisman was four for four. Ricky Stockton allowed one hit in 4 1/3 innings and Matt Sagoian (1-0) allowed one hit in 1 1/3 innings in relief.
