GARFIELD (4-1) vs. ROOSEVELT (2-3)

* Site: At East Los Angeles College, Friday, 8 p.m.

* Coaches: John Aguirre, Garfield, fourth year; Randy Rodriguez, Roosevelt, first year.

* The matchup: Garfield is 4-0 in the City Section’s Southeastern Conference and the favorite to win the title. Roosevelt is struggling at 1-3. But in this neighborhood rivalry, referred to as the “East L.A. Classic,” records don’t mean much. A capacity crowd of 25,000 is expected, and thousands of fans will be turned away at the gate. Garfield won last year’s game, 54-10, the most lopsided margin in the 60 games between the schools. The Bulldogs have a potent running game, with seniors Juan Marez and Latarrin Sheppard sharing duties. Rodriguez has implemented a wide-open passing game in his first season, and three-year starting quarterback Fernando Delgadillo has passed for nearly 800 yards.
