However, Porter’s 98-yard touchdown return on the ensuing kickoff tied the score, 7-7, with 4 1/2 minutes left in the first quarter.

Rodriguez, who rushed for 133 yards in 24 carries, put the Lancers up for good with a one-yard dive nine plays after he intercepted a pass by Troy’s Steve Muther.

Sunny Hills’ defense limited the Warriors to 179 total yards and Grayes, the county’s fifth-leading rusher, to 75 yards in 27 carries.

Rodriguez scored his second touchdown on a five-yard run, capping a 14-play, 96-yard drive that gave the Lancers a 21-7 lead with 9 minutes 38 seconds left in the game.

Porter’s second touchdown was also the Lancers’ second on special teams--he returned a short punt 46 yards for the score.

“[Porter] had a pretty good game,” Devaney said. “I’m relieved that that part of the game is coming through for us.”
