As expected, Orange County teams dominated the girls’ tennis pairings. A county team was seeded first in all five divisions and the county had the top two seedings in Division I and the top four seedings in Division II.

Newport Harbor (17-2) and Corona del Mar (16-3), the second- and third-place teams in the Sea View League, were seeded first and second in Division I. Both teams were originally placed in Division IV based on enrollment but moved up to Division I before the season.

Newport Harbor opens play Thursday against the winner of today’s wild-card match between Rowland Heights Rowland (8-9) and Ontario Chaffey (10-5). Corona del Mar will host Colton (9-8) Thursday in the first round. Six-time defending champion Palos Verdes Peninsula (17-3) was seeded third and Santa Barbara was fourth. Los Alamitos, the only other county team in Division I, will host Long Beach Poly in the first round.

In Division II, Dana Hills, Villa Park, Mater Dei and Capistrano Valley were seeded first through fourth. In Division III, Woodbridge is seeded first and is the clear favorite. The Warriors (18-2), who finished the season as the top-ranked team in the county, have beaten Newport Harbor once and Corona del Mar twice. The second-seeded team is Westlake Village Westlake (16-4), the Marmonte League champion.

Rosary (19-1), the Golden West League champion, is seeded first in Division IV and will play the winner of Estancia and Pacifica in the first round. Laguna Beach (12-7), the Division II champion three of the last four years, is seeded first in Division V and will receive a first-round bye.

First-round matches in all division begin at 2 p.m. Thursday. The finals in all divisions will be held Nov. 26 at the Claremont Club.
