Carmody is a wrestling coach at the Boys & Girls Club of Ventura. His wrestling program was also honored with the Gold Medal for Program Excellence. The twice-weekly program, entitled “Wrestling Down the Walls and Building Bridges,” was noted for giving girls and boys the opportunity to learn teamwork, build self-esteem and overcome physical limitations.
Carmody, a member of the board of directors at the club, and the wrestling program will compete against winners from other council areas around the country in the Boys & Girls Clubs of America national awards program held in April.
