SEASON AT A GLANCE: Lopez has won nine of 12 races and finished second twice and third once. His biggest victories came this year came at the Mt. San Antonio College Invitational and in the Southern Section championships.

WEEK AT A GLANCE: Lopez placed third in the West regional championships in Fresno to qualify for the national finals in San Diego on Saturday. His time of 15 minutes 16 seconds over the 5,000-meter course was four seconds faster than his clocking in the state championships on Nov. 30 and made him the top finisher from California. “After not winning state I was a little down, but qualifying for nationals has been my goal all [season],” Lopez said.
