The section Division III champion also won the Freeway League finals title for the third year in a row. Finished as state Division III runner-up (18:24) and won the Gold Division race at the O.C. Championships in 18:20. Won the Division III Mt. SAC Invitational team sweepstakes race.

SYDNEY LEONARD

Dana Hills, Sr.

Her third-place finish (18:27) helped the Dolphins win their second consecutive O.C. Championships team title. Finished as South Coast League champion and was sixth in the section Division II finals (17:08). Ran to a fifth-place finish in the Division II state meet (18:10).

ALLYSON MARQUAND

University, So.

The two-time O.C. Championships winner dominated the county competition all fall. She won the Pacific Coast League finals and finished second in the Division II races at the section (16:34) and state (17:53) finals. Ran day’s best time of 16:54 to win Dana Hills Invitational.

MARY MOORE

Woodbridge, Jr.

One of the county’s biggest surprises, Moore finished seventh in the Division II section (17:22) and state finals (18:24). The Sea View League runner-up (17:43) finished fifth in the O.C. Championships Gold Division race (19:03) and Woodbridge Invitational Division I race (18:36).

Santa Margarita, Sr.

The two-time Foot Locker National finalist earned her fourth consecutive first-team appearance. She won the Sea View League title for the second year in a row and followed with a fourth-place finish at the section Division II finals (16:45) and a third-place finish at the state Division II finals.

DANI ROPE

One of the area’s most consistent runners, Rope finished eighth at the Mt. SAC Invitational Division II team sweepstakes (18:37) and section Division II finals (17:27). She finished fifth in the O.C. Championships (18:29) and Sea View League finals (17:57).

ERIN ZEHNTNER

Irvine, So.

The sophomore was fourth in the Woodbridge Invitational Division I race (18:29), fourth in the Sea View League finals (17:54) and fourth in the section Division I finals (17:24). Finished 13th at the state Division I finals in 18:49. Won the Division I sophomore race at Laguna Hills Invitational.

It’s hard to believe, but the Aztecs won their first section cross-country title with a Division I victory in November. Medellin guided his runners though the Sunset League dual meets and finals undefeated, then to a fifth-place finish in the state Division I finals.
