Scott Doesn’t Pass, Burroughs Wins

J.K. Scott’s three-point play with seven seconds left lifted Burroughs High to a 56-54 victory over Glendale on Wednesday night in pool play of the La Canada tournament.

Scott, an All-Foothill League quarterback, made a short basket and converted a free throw to finish with nine points.

Juan Zavala scored 18 points for Burroughs (3-4).

Armen Haghnazarian made five three-point baskets and scored 17 points for Glendale (2-5).

El Rancho 58, Alemany 56--The Indians (1-8) were outscored, 21-13, in the fourth quarter of a La Canada tournament game.

Tony Chukuka made two free throws with 16 seconds left to put El Rancho (6-3) ahead, 58-53. Richard Nelson of Alemany hit a three-point shot at the buzzer.

Mauricio Garcia had 23 points and 23 rebounds for El Rancho.

Schurr 56, Hoover 53--Nelson Lee scored 16 points for the Spartans (5-5) in the La Canada tournament.

Andy Russel had 27 points and 12 rebounds for Hoover (3-4).

Schurr outscored Hoover, 30-16, in the second half.
